Most Parents Don’t Know the Difference Between Exempt, Nonexempt Day Care Centers

“Educated and well-intended parents go into unregulated programs and don’t know they’re unregulated,” said Gail Piggott, executive director of the nonprofit Alabama Partnership for Children. “There’s a false assumption, a false sense of security that if a program is in the yellow pages, caring for children every day, that they are regulated.”
